Canon's "Print in City" Delivers Secure, Self-Service Printing for Public Spaces

Canon's "Print in City" is a cloud-based print sharing solution designed to help organisations like libraries, universities, and co-working spaces offer secure, self-service printing, scanning, and copying to the public. Users can upload documents from their devices via an app or web portal, select a nearby Canon-enabled printer using an interactive map, and pay using e-wallets such as PayPal or Google Pay.

The system is fully self-contained, requiring no additional hardware like coin boxes or release stations, and is hosted on Microsoft Azure with SHA-256 with RSA encryption, ensuring robust data security. Uncollected print jobs are automatically deleted after 48 hours, maintaining user privacy and system efficiency. Discover more here.

For institutions, Print in City offers a low-maintenance, revenue-generating service that integrates seamlessly with existing Canon multifunction devices. Organisations can set their own pricing and receive monthly reconciled payments directly to their bank accounts. The system accommodates both digital and cash payments, making it accessible to a broad user base.

By providing this service, institutions can enhance community engagement and offset operational costs without burdening IT staff. The solution's simplicity and scalability make it an attractive option for organisations looking to modernise their public services.
